Popliteal artery
As the femoral artery continues its course through the adductor canal, it traverses the adductor hiatus at approximately the level of the junction between the middle and distal thirds of the posterior thigh. It is at this point that the femoral artery changes names and becomes known as the popliteal artery. The popliteal artery has a relatively short course spanning only the distance between the adductor hiatus and the inferior border of popliteus.
