Posterior calcaneus
Beginning your palpation on either side of the Achilles tendon, locate the supero-posterior surface of the calcaneus. Follow the borders of the calcaneus with your index fingers to gain an appreciation of the bone's triangular shape on its posterior surface. Palpating from a plantar direction with your thumb, the wide inferior border of the calcaneus can be located.
