In this case temperature is measured with a dermal infrared thermometer.

Lloyd: The temperature of Mr Bearay's feet was assessed at multiple sites. This provided information about inflammation, infection and circulation. The circulation was assessed more thoroughly in the vascular examination which involved palpating pulses and using specialised equipment.
